Notes from Capitol Hill – November 12, 2024

November 13, 2024 Posted by Elena Uncategorized No Comments

Our team had meetings on Capitol Hill on November 12, 2024. We met with 5 U.S. House Representatives & their officers over the course of the day to discuss important law enforcement legislation and our America’s Law Enforcement Pledge.

First, we met with Congressman Bruce Westerman’s office. We talked about H.R. 233 and he will consider co-sponsoring the bill along with signing our pledge. He is already on the LEO Caucus and is on H.R. 3170.

We then met with Congresswoman Maria Salazar’s office and the meeting went great! Rep. Salazar and her office is very pro-police and she is considering co-sponsoring H.R. 233 and sign our pledge. She is currently on H.R. 3710.

We then met with Congressman Jason Smith’s political team. After talking about H.R. 233, we discussed H.R. 3170 in depth. His team agreed to bring the information to the Congressman to see if he will co-sponsor both bills along with signing the pledge.

Our last official meeting of the day was in Congressman Adrian Smith’s office. Like everyone else on the Hill today, his office is very pro-police. Rep. Smith will also consider co-sponsoring the two main legislation pieces and is interested in signing our pledge.

Before we left for the day, Mr. Eyler went by Congressman Derrick Van Orden’s office to say hello. Rep. Van Orden was in his office and asked me to come in to catch up. Mr. Eyler spoke in depth with him about H.R. 233 and how we were trying to find a member to introduce the bill next year and he said he would be very interested in introducing this bill.

It was a great day on the Hill and we will continue to meet with and encourage our Representatives to speak up for and support our law enforcement officers!
