Our dedicated leadership at the Police Officers Defense Coalition engaged in fruitful discussions with legislators and their staff yesterday, shedding light on pro-police legislation that will be debated and voted on this week on the House floor. We also urged Members to join the Law Enforcement Caucus.
The House passed H. Con. Res. 106, “Expressing support for local law enforcement officers and condemning efforts to defund local law enforcement agencies,” by voice vote. Additionally, S. 546, the Recruit and Retain Act, passed by a vote of 370 to 18. It passed the Senate by voice vote on July 26, 2023.
We received a warm welcome from the seven offices we met with, including Rep. Emmer’s office!
PODC Vice President Bert Eyler met and thanked Rep. Jen Kiggins for her strong commitment to law enforcement and for signing our Law Enforcement Pledge.
The House will vote on several more pro-police bills today!
