PODC Vice President Bert Eyler had meeting with the staff of four Congresspeople today. First, he met with Congresswoman Nancy Mace. Mr. Eyler took a picture with Congresswoman Mace with the America’s Law Enforcement Pledge that she signed. I thanked her for always supporting our LEO Family. He will be following up about HR-233 and getting her to co-sponsor the bill.
Bert then met with Congressman Morgan Griffith’s office. Rep. Griffith will consider co-sponsoring HR-233 and the other Legislative Initiatives we discussed. He is also considering signing the LEO pledge.
Next Mr. Eyler went to Congressman Tony Gonzales’s office. One of his staffer brought a new bill to our attention: the Life Saving Gear for Police Act. This legislation would make the 1033 program law, which allows police departments to buy military surplus that is not being used.
Finally, Mr. Eyler met with Congressman Brian Mast’s office. This was an unscheduled and quick stop but it was a great meeting. We set up a time to speak more in depth in the next few weeks to discuss upcoming and possible legislation that Rep. Mast would be interested in co-sponsoring.
